Verizon Now Selling Blackberry Priv

BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone is now finally available from Verizon Wireless, the largest US carrier. The smartphone is now listed on the carrier website and if you’re interested in getting one, you can place your order right away.

Verizon Wireless is selling the Priv at a full retail price of $720 in case you are interested in buying the smartphone outright. Alternatively, you can choose to get the Priv at $30 per month for a period of 24 months. As of now, it appears the BlackBerry Priv has only been listed on the online Verizon store and isn’t yet available at Verizon retail stores across the United States. The carrier hasn’t issued a press release yet, so we do not know how many days or even weeks it might take for the Priv to be readily available at Verizon retail stores.

As most of you will be aware, the Priv is the first Android smartphone manufactured by BlackBerry and is a pretty compelling flagship smartphone if you’re concerned about privacy and security. The Priv also makes perfect sense if you are a previous BlackBerry user and would like to upgrade to an Android smartphone without compromising on the privacy and security features that previous BlackBerry handsets offered.

The BlackBerry Priv may not be comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 in terms of hardware, but it is still a pretty impressive smartphone. You get a 5.4-inch 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution AMOLED display that is curved on both sides, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard expandable storage, 18MP rear camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics and optical image stabilization, 2MP selfie camera, 3410mAh capacity battery, 4G LTE connectivity, and a physical slide-out QWERTY keypad. The smartphone currently runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with a host of BlackBerry features and services.
