Received a 5.0.1

I was looking for a cheap tablet I could mount on the wall for home automation stuff. (I mostly use voice control, but I wanted something the housekeeper, pet sitter etc. would be more comfortable with.) So after researching I decided on the Fire, but thought I would get the most recent version and wouldn't be able to root. Still, I thought I could make it work with the addition of the Play Store.

I was thrilled when a 5.0.1 version showed up on my porch last night. Ignored all the demands to connect my wifi while I figured out what to do next. Getting the ADB drivers installed was the biggest challenge, but after that, thanks to Rootjunky's original Fire tool, I was able to quickly root, remove the ads, and install the Nova launcher. Thanks to a post here I was able to remove most of the Amazon stock junk safely. Now I have a perfect, cheap device that will do exactly what I want.

Thanks to all the XDA contributors who made it possible. You are awesome.
