AMP Review & How To Use AMP On Your Blog

Corrently AMP pages are being used by most websites this days before we go further let me use explain briefly about AMP




What is AMP?

AMP is a Google-backed project with the aim of speeding up the delivery of content through the use of stripped down code known as AMP HTML, AMP Simply means Accelerated Mobile Pages.  AMP is a way to build web pages for static content (pages that don’t change based on user behaviour), that allows the pages to load (and pre-render in Google search) much faster than regular HTML.

AMP has been rolled out in response to projects such as Facebook Instant Articles, in which Facebook can host and render publishers content directly within their news feed, meaning the process of viewing a piece of content is much quicker than opening the equivalent web page in a mobile browser.

Facebook’s Instant Article technology is what’s known as closed, thus the technology used to display Instant Articles is specific to only their platform. The AMP project uses an open-source framework, meaning that it can be used by a whole host of other companies to serve content that’s been built using AMP HTML, including platforms such as Twitter, Pinterest and Google search, which is big news for content publishers.

How Does AMP Work?

Essentially a framework for creating mobile web pages, AMP consists of three basic parts:

1. AMP HTML: A subset of HTML, this markup language has some custom tags and properties and many restrictions. But if you are familiar with regular HTML, you should not have difficulty adapting existing pages to AMP HTML. For more details on how it differs from basic HTML, check out AMP Project’s list of required markup that your AMP HTML page “must” have.
2. AMP JS: A JavaScript framework for mobile pages. For the most part, it manages resource handling and asynchronous loading. It should be noted that third-party JavaScript is not permitted with AMP.
3. AMP CDN: An optional Content Delivery Network, it will take your AMP-enabled pages, cache them and automatically make some performance optimizations.

What does AMP-optimized mobile content look like?

Fortunately, you can test a demo of AMP news content.
Whip out that smartphone of yours.
Open up a browser (any browser).
Type in g.co/ampdemo.
Type in popular keyword phrases like “Justin Bieber Birthday,” “Jennifer Lawrence,” or “Yoko Ono” into the Google search box.
Hit “Send.”

As you can see, AMP content gets top billing. It’s in the carousel that sits above the fold. The standard entries sit below it.

You can scroll through that carousel and when you find an AMP-powered article you like, click on it. This is how it will look:

I know  most people have been saying/looking for a way to implement this  AMP on there blog, well  for now i am not certain that bloggers using blogspot can not use this tool yet but as it develops or if i find another way blogspot users can use this tool,  i will set up a tutorial as soon as possible.

but for wordpress users Two brothers from Hyderabad are also actively developing & maintaining AMP Toolbox plugin; that helps you to monetize your AMP version of the site. Here is a video that helps you to enable AMP for your WordPress blog.

How to use Google’s AMP testing tool?

If you want to use this tool HERE to test your website you can go to & add any of the pages from your blog to analyze the AMP page with the real Googlebot. The tool tests the validity of the AMP markup as well as any structured data on the page.  You can use this tool on your smartphone browser as well.
