Orkut Light - Low BandWidth Version launched

Google Orkut team have launched a new feature today, to support users with low-bandwidth internet connection. They've rolled out a 'Low Bandwidth version' of Orkut. Check the screen-shot below.

The commendable thing about this version is - it's not ugly. What usually happens is - low bandwidth versions are usually devoid of all photos, graphics and formatting. They seem like just a word document. Total eye-sore. But, hats off to Orkut. All other images [except for your profile photo] are removed. But still, in way, the Low-BW version looks better and cleaner than the normal version. The 'Upcoming Birthdays' is displayed as a calendar - which takes more space but looks cool.

So, how to switch to this 'Low Bandwidth version [LBWV]' ...?? Very simple. If you haven't encountered it yet, chances are, the next time you log into Orkut, you'll get the notification [on a yellow bar at the top of your home page] of choosing the LBWV. If you miss that by any chance, catch at it your settings page. Pretty easy. Check the screen-shot below.

Cool huh? Lemme know how you like this new feature. Enjoy.
