Asustek turns sights to online smartphone sales in Southeast Asia


Taipei, June 29 (CNA) Taiwan's Asustek Computer Inc. is scheduled to open its official online store in Singapore on July 7 as the company's first step in expanding its online sales network of the low-cost ZenFone smartphone into Southeast Asian markets.

Further, the PC vendor will open its e-commerce website in Hong Kong in late August or early September, said Michael Huang, general manager of the Taiwan branch of Singapore-based e-commerce group Uitox Corp., which teamed up with Asustek in April this year to sell ZenFone models online in Taiwan.

By the end of this year, Asustek plans to launch its official online smartphone sales service with Uitox in more Southeast Asian markets, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam, Huang told reporters last week when he attended an e-commerce forum in Taipei organized by Facebook Inc.

Asustek officials admit to being surprised by the better-than-expected results of its online smartphone sales, which accounted for more than 30 percent of Asustek's total smartphone sales volume in Taiwan in April, Huang said.

The Taiwanese computer maker is targeting a higher ratio of online smartphone sales in July for its home market, and has determined to make inroads into the fast-growing e-commerce market in Southeast Asia, in partnership with Uitox, he added.

The ZenFone models, priced as low as US$99, were unveiled in January this year as Asustek's answer to Chinese handset maker Xiaomi Corp.'s affordable Hongmi series

The ZenFone series has hit retailers' store shelves in Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand, and is scheduled to go on sale in India, Russia and Brazil in late second quarter, according to Asustek.

Asustek CEO Jerry Shen told a media briefing on June 2 at the Computex Taipei computer trade show that the company was working with its suppliers to double ZenFone shipments from 500,000 in May to one million units in June, and it will maintain that level until at least the fourth quarter of 2014.

Asustek forecast at an investor conference on May 7 that it would sell 5 million to 10 million smartphones this year to boost its 2014 revenues.

Tasker profile: Better Battery Log

Do you ever unlock your phone, look at the battery % and go "Holly hell, 30%...! Was it this low when I locked it last? How much battery did drain since I last used it?" Sadly there's no stock/easy way of knowing for sure. The stock battery usage graph shows battery usage since last full charge, which doesn't help.

I want to check my battery drop since last I used the phone. So, I created a tasker profile that writes the time and remaining battery percentage to a file every time I turn the screen off. This way, when I turn the screen on after some time, I can check how much battery was lost while the phone was idle. If I see any drastic drop, I would know something is going wrong and investigate.

Create empty log file
Using any file browser app, create an empty text file on your sdcard. For example, I created /sdcard0/BatteryLog.txt

Easily import Battery Logger profile
Download this file to your sdcard. Then open tasker and long press on the "Profile" tab. In the menu that opens, tap "Import". Locate the downloaded xml file and tap it. The Log Battery profile will be imported and ready to use.

OR Setup Battery Logger profile yourself
  1. On the tasker's profiles tab, tap the + button at the bottom right. Give a name to the profile. I gave "Log Battery".
  2. Next select the trigger event State > Display > Display state. Make sure it says "Is Off". Press back.
  3. A task selection list will pop up. Tap "New Task" here. Give it a name.
  4. In the task edit page, tap + at the bottom center > tap "File" > tap "Delete file".
  5. Tap the search icon at the right end of "File" and browse n select the BatteryLog.txt file.
  6. Tap "If" bar. Set condition %BATT > 98. Press back.
  7. Tap + at the bottom center > tap "Task" > tap "Wait". Set how much time you want to wait before noting down the battery. Then press back.
  8. Tap + at the bottom center > tap "File" > tap "Write file"
  9. Tap the search icon at the right end of "File" and browse n select the BatteryLog.txt file.
  10. Tap on the text field and enter "%DATE - %TIME - %BATT - MEMF" without the quotes. You can also tap the variable selector at the right end of this and enter other variables if you want.
  11. Enable the append and "Add newline" options. Press back.


You tasker profile is now ready. It will note down remaining battery percentage every time you turn off the screen. And every time the phone is fully charged, it will purge the record and start a fresh log.

Installing TWRP v2.6.30 Custom Recovery on Lenovo P780

Installing TWRP v2.6.30 Custom Recovery on Lenovo P780 - Today posting is about how to install custom recovery TWRP to Lenovo P780, this installation guide is also show on how to rooting Lenovo P780. TWRP v2.6.30 in this guide will be installed using Mobile Uncle MTK Tools so it required your devices to be ROOTED. TWRP is a custom recovery with touch function to navigate along it menus, it also have the same menus like any other custom recovery like backup, restore, advanced restore, install, and etc. In this guide i will try to explain every steps it take so if even you a new to android you can still follow this guide.

Disclaimer :
This guide for educational purpose only, We not responsible if your device bricked after following this tutorial. Do with your own risk rooting void your device warranty. (DWYOR) This can only fit with ROW firmware and don't fit with CN firmware.

Installing TWRP v2.6.30 Custom Recovery on Lenovo P780
  1. Download all files required to your computer. Move MobileUncle MTK Tool and TWRP_P780_v2.6.3.0 to your sd card. Extract Root Genius v1.0.7 and run it, first time running it will update to latest version 1.9.3 just wait.
  2. Prepare your device to be ROOTED, enable USB Debugging, go to System Setting ↦ Developer Options ↦ USB Debuggning if you not enable this options than your computer will not recognize your device.

  3. If you never install Lenovo USB Driver, please install it first before connect your device to computer. After finish installing driver, now connect your device to your computer with USB cable. Root Genius v1.0.7 will recognize your device and will display root status. Just click Green Root Button in the lower left of Root Genius v1.0.7.
  4. Wait the rooting process until finish, After finish check in your applications drawer there will be root application called KingUser this mean your device already ROOTED.
  5. Now enable Unknown Sources option. Go to System Settings ↦ Security ↦ Unknown Sources this option will make you can install apk to your device. 
  6. Install MobileUncle MTK Tool, if any security warning just confirm it and continued to install.
  7. Run MobileUncle MTK Tool, select Recovery Update, there will be list that show a recovery file from your sd card and from remote. Select topmost, it will be TWRP_P780_v2.6.3.0. confirm it and begin the custom recovery installation process.

  8. Wait the process until finish, when it finish there will be option to boot to Recovery Mode select Yes and your device will be reboot to Recovery Mode.
  9. Done
Now you already successful install custom recovery TWRP v2.6.30, Try to explorer and try to backup your current ROM using this tool.
