Donald Trump Offers Tim Cook Incentives To Manufacture iPhones, iPads And Macs In The US

U.S. president-elect Donald Trump is trying to get Apple to make its products in the United States instead of other countries.

Donald Trump told Apple CEO Tim Cook that he is going to “get” the company to start manufacturing its products in the United States, the president-elect told the New York Times on Tuesday.

Trump revealed that he had received a post-election phone call from Cook during which he said, “Tim, you know one of the things that will be a real achievement for me is when I get Apple to build a big plant in the United States, or many big plants in the United States.”

According to Trump’s account, Cook responded,

“I understand that,” and Trump went on to promise incentives through tax breaks and reduced regulations.

“I think we’ll create the incentives for you, and I think you’re going to do it,” Trump said he said.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation of Trump’s characterization of the call, nor did it respond to a request for comment on the content of Trump’s remarks.

Though Apple markets its high-end products as being “designed by Apple in California”, the electronics are assembled at factories in China from components produced primarily in China, Japan and Taiwan, according to the MIT Technology Review. The company says that its suppliers employ more than 1.6 million people.
Most of Apple's current manufacturing partners operate in countries such as China and Vietnam, but Trump wants to incentivize the company to build at least one plant in the United States and make its products locally.

In an interview with The New York Times, Trump said that both Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates and Apple CEO Tim Cook called him after winning the election. Trump explained to Cook that he would consider it a "real achievement" if he could convince Apple to make devices in the United States instead of other countries and Cook reportedly acknowledged the suggestion by saying that he understands.

Trump told the CEO that Apple could build a big plant in the Unites States, or several big plants, and make its devices right there, and that could be doable with the right incentives.

Tim Cook supported Hillary Clinton in the U.S. presidential election, although Apple as a company supported both presidential nominees. Nevertheless, when Trump won the race, Cook sent a memo to Apple employees urging them to "move forward together" despite the uncertainties they may face in the future.

It remains to be seen whether moving forward will mean accepting Trump's proposition and start building manufacturing plants to move its device production to the United States, but the incentives Trump mentioned could do the trick.

Tecno To Setup Manufacturing Plant For Tecno Mobile In Lagos ,Nigeria

Tecno Deputy Marketing Manager, Nigeria, Attai Oguche, who disclosed this in Lagos, at the launch of the firm’s new mobile devices Phantom 6 and Phantom 6 Plus, said the firm is committed to the Nigerian market, hence the need to site a manufacturing plant in the country.

Oguche said while Tecno has its first African manufacturing plant in Ethiopia, the firm has established presence in 48 territories, “Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania respectively remain the biggest market on the continent for the phone company.”
The firm said it has revolutionised mobile telephony in well over 30 African countries; giving mobile users global quality devices at affordable rates.


The strategy of adopting innovation works and for Tecno, the turning point was the introduction of dual SIM technology into its range of feature phones and smartphones well before top mobile brands doing business in same markets could respond to a glaring consumer need.

Giving more insight into the newly launched device, which was globally unveiled in Dubai, UAE, Tecno Digital Marketing Executive, Jesse Oguntimehin, said the firm currently controls 25.3 per cent market share in Nigeria.

Oguntimehin said Tecno has a good reason to celebrate its first decade of existence; enjoying particularly rising shipment to Africa and south-east Asian markets.

He said Tecno’s latest phablet comes with enhanced multimedia appetite; hosting up to 5,000 songs or 20 HD movies.

Describing Phantom 6 Plus as a ‘Beast’, Oguntimehin said is built to impress; taking performance speed and user privacy/security to new levels.

According to him, the device comes with an impressive MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor and a 4GB RAM which helps it support 32 apps running simultaneously without crashing.

Compared to last generation smartphones, he said the Phantom 6 Plus performs 70 per cent better and uses up 30 per cent less battery juice.

Whatsapp Rolls Out Snapchat Like Features

Whatsapp has released a new update that allows users to draw on top of images and videos that they share — a feature reportedly ‘copied’ from photo sharing app Snapchat.
                                               
The update, which is currently available on the beta version, was first introduced in September. It allows users to add emojis and coloured text to pictures. The update employs open source Twemoji also used by Snapchat and Twitter.

The announcement was first made on the WhatsApp blog.

 “Today we’re introducing new ways to customize and enhance the photos and videos you share with friends and family around the world. With WhatsApp's new camera features, you can now write or draw on photos and videos, as well as add emoji to express yourself,” the post said.

Nokia's upcoming return to the smartphone market. In August, a report cited a Nokia executive to claim the company would launch four Android-based devices in the fourth quarter of 2016. Since then, a number of contradictory rumours have surfaced regarding the name and features of the upcoming devices. In late August, two Nokia-branded Android devices - Nokia 5320 and Nokia 1490 - were spotted on GeekBench. Now, a new Nokia device, named D1C, has made its way to the benchmark site.

GeekBench gave the D1C a score of 656 single-core performance and 3120 in multi-score performance which is decent for a mid-range device. Being a benchmark page, the information on the device is still limited.
Nokia's comeback has been highly anticipated since May when the Finnish company granted HMD Global the exclusive license to create Nokia-branded Android mobile phones and tablets for the next 10 years.

Now, specifications of a Nokia D1C has been spotted on Geekbench 3. Looks like multiple benchmark tests were conducted on D1C, and the results were posted on September 30. Nokia D1C gained the highest of 682 in single-core score and 3299 in multi-core score. The site reveals D1C runs the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. It will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, coupled with 3GB RAM.

Google Releases New Chat App ''Allo'' And Its Clever

Google has launched a smart messaging app called Allo that it hopes will rival WhatsApp, Facebook's Messenger and Apple's iMessage, the big difference in this chat app is base on its "smart" abilities: it can reply to messages for you and has an in-app assistant called "@google" that can search the internet, play videos and offer restaurant suggestions.

Allo can help cut down on typing on small screens by suggesting replies based on context. If a friend asks how you're doing, you can tap "Good tnx." Allo preserves chatting shortcuts such as "u'' for "you." Apple offers something similar on its smartwatch, but not phones or tablets. Allo will also analyze photos to suggest replies such as "beautiful smile" or "the skyline looks great!" — at least for photos with smiles or skylines. Remember that this is software, so its suggestions won't always make sense.

PERSONAL ASSISTANT

When you're chatting with someone, you're often making plans. Google Assistant can retrieve information on nearby restaurants, movie times and even the weather. Everyone in the chat will see the Assistant's replies and can weigh in on the choices.

In some cases, Google Assistant will even anticipate your needs, such as when someone's asking about getting sushi. An oval bubble appears with an offer to retrieve nearby sushi restaurants. After choosing one, you can tap for opening hours, directions or the menu.

Reservations aren't available yet, though Google is considering third-party integrations such as OpenTable for dinner and Airbnb for accommodations. Apple's Messages doesn't invoke the Siri virtual assistant the same way, but it already offers integration with third-party apps so that you can make plans (and reservations) while chatting.

Beyond planning, Google Assistant can give you the latest news and sports scores, translate phrases or do math calculations. Asking for directions will bring up Google Maps.

Plain text is boring, so Allo features a slider that can make your messages and emojis larger or smaller.

Allo will work for iPhones and Android phones, but not tablets.

Apple Finally Releases Iphone 7 & Iphone 7 Plus And Its Amazing

With the new iPhone 7, there are some major changes and some more subtle changes. First off, the iPhone 7 is now water and dust resistant and is said to be able to last up to 30 minutes under a meter of water. The phone will also be available in Black, Jet Black, Gold, Silver and Rose Gold.

One of the major changes is the removal of the headphone port. Apple have introduced the new bluetooth wireless headphones for the iPhone 7 but you can still use your regular wired headphones as they can be plugged in through the charging port.

Another major change is the new home button. Unlike before where you had to click, it has been made pressure sensitive. The camera is just the same as the iPhone 6S camera which is 12MP though it’s secondary camera has been upgraded to 7MP from the 5MP of the iPhone 6S.

Concerning battery life, Apple says the new 7 lasts two hours longer than the 6S. It’s 4.7-inch retina display stays on from its predecessor. Apple also replaced their regular 16GB devices with the new 256GB devices.

For the iPhone 7 Plus, it has all of the new features from the regular 7. However, Apple also added an extra camera. The 7 Plus comes with two camera lens, both of them are 12MP. The display screen stays at 5.5 inches

The iPhone 7 will retail at $649 for the 32GB, $749 for 128GB and $849 for 256GB. The iPhone 7 Plus will be $769 for the 32GB version and $869 and $969 for the 128GB and 256GB respectively. Also the new wireless bluetooth headphones will retail at $159 each.

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be available for pre-order from September 9. They will hit the markets from September 16.
