Install Custom Recovery Cannibal Touch Recovery on Lenovo S939 Android 4.4 or 4.2

1. First thing to do is install USB Vcom driver on your computer, without this driver installed on your computer flash tool will not recognize your device and progress bar will stay at 0%, for installing USB Vcom driver please refer to this below :


• turn off your device and remove the battery, If you device using non removable make sure that your device is completely turn off wait like 20 seconds after power off the device
• open device manager on your computer
• connect your device using USB cable
• there will be MTK65xx Preloader Devices show on your device manager, PORT section for 5 second or less and then disappear
• disconnect and connect your device again, right click on MTK65xx Preloader Devices before it disappear, select Update Driver Software 
• point it USB VCOM extracted folder, and install the driver from there.
• disconnect and connect your device again, there will be Mediatek PreLoader USB VCOM Port on your device manager PORT section.
2. After successful install USB Vcom driver now we can start the step to update Lenovo S920, for step by step for update please refer to below :
   
   
• Extract ROM downloaded and the flash tool on then same folder, for easy organize it and flashing it. Go to flash tool extracted folder and run flash_tool.exe. If you are using windows 7 or later please run it using administrator privilege.
• On the flash tool, please go to Options ↦ Option ↦ Download please make sure DA DL All with Checksum already checked, click X (Close) to back to Flash Tool, this option is very important so please don't forget it.
  


• Once back to flash tool, now please click on the Scatter-Loading button and point it to ROM extracted folder and the select MT6592_Android_scatter.txt this will automatically loaded recovery image.
• Now you can press Download button or hit CTRL+D. 
  
  
  
• Installation will start once you connect your device, and only take time 5-10 seconds to finish. You will see GREEN CIRCLE on the middle of flash tool once the installation finish and you can disconnect your device.
3. Done, You have successful install Cannibal Touch Recovery on your Lenovo S939 please confirm it with boot to recovery mode, press and hold Power button + Volume Up + Volume Down button until you can see cannibal touch main menu.

Lenovo S939 Update Vibe UI 2.0 with Root and Google Applciations - Many people still and want to use china ROM Vibe UI 2.0 but they hindered by the absence of google applications, so today i will try to give you a guide on how to installing Vibe UI 2.0 on Lenovo S939 with root and google applications. But first let me tell you about Vibe UI 2.0, it china ROM without google applications and only support 2 language which is english and china only. Vibe UI 2.0 is the official release from Lenovo so this update will have many improvement and fix any bug from previous Vibe UI 1.5. This guide can only using recovery update mode, but this guide will erase your data so please do your own backup preparations.

Lenovo S939 Update Vibe UI 2.0 with Root and Google Applciations

1. First this guide only can be done if your current firmware is china version, so please make sure you already meets the requirement. For OTA update, you must enable USB Transfer. after connect your phone to computer drag notification and select Touch for other USB options ↦ USB Transfer
   


2. Just run the VibeROMFlash application, it will detect your device and start to locate the update. Once it found just press big green button in the middle of application (it mean "Start Download"), relay and wait download until finish. When progress bar reach 100% and click again the big green button (it mean "Start Upgrade")
   
   
   
   


3. Update will take sometime, so please be patient for a while. After successful update please restart your phone and confirm that you already on Vibe UI 2.0
   


4. For Manual update, please move ROM file (without having to unzip it) to your external SD Card. Copy it on your SD Card root folder don't inside the folder.
5. Turn off your device, and then turn it on again with hold and press Power button + Volume Up until you can see recovery mode main menu.
   


6. On the recovery mode, please select Wipe Data / Factory Reset ↦ Delete All User Data
7. Select Wipe Cache Partition ↦ Wipe Cache
8. Select Advanced ↦ Wipe Dalvik Cache
9. Back to recovery main menu then select Install zip from sdcard ↦ Choose zip from sdcard ↦ point to your downloaded ROM.
10. Done, Wait until finish and the reboot your device. First time boot will be take some time so please be patience.
11. For Rooting :
    • Open the Root Genius that already installed on your computer.
    • Connect your device with USB Debugging enable, just wait let the Root Genius to find the driver and display your phone information
    • Click Big Green Button on the left bottom to root your device.
    • Done
12. For Install Google Play Services :
• Move GMSInstaller to your external SD Card
• Install like usually, and if it need root access just allow it.
• After successful install just reboot your device, and it will configure android system 
13. Done

Lenovo S939 Install Official CN Firmware S939_S129_140217 - If you wanna to update your Lenovo S939 first you must install or flashing your Lenovo S939 with CN firmware that have lower build number, in this case we use S939_S129. After finish installing or flashing this firmware you can freely update your device to Vibe UI 1.5 or Vibe UI 2.0, if you choose to update to Vibe UI 1.5 than you can refer to this Lenovo S939 Update Kit Kat Vibe UI v1.5 + Gapps + Root. This firmware is china version so it not include google play and contains china default applications that cannot be used outside china country, contain only english and china languages.

• S939_S129_140217 ↦ 1.7 Gb, This only contains images files to upgrade or downgrade your device to S129_S939 not contains any flash tool, so you must download it separately.
• USB VCOM Driver ↦ Install this driver first on your computer, Turn off your device and remove the battery, using USB cable connect your device while look at My Computer ↦ Manage ↦ Device Manager there will be MTK65xx Preloader Devices show up for 5 second than disappeared, before disappeared right click on it and select Update Driver Software point it to USB VCOM Driver extracted folder. When it finish disconnect and connect again there will be Mediatek PreLoader USB VCOM Port on your device manager.
  


• SP Flash Tool v5.1348 ↦ Flash tool that needed to flash current firmware to your device, recommended to use only this version unless you know what your doing.

Lenovo S939 Install Official CN Firmware S939_S129_140217

1. +Download all required files above, please place it on the one folder for easy organize it. Extract all on the same folder and begin installation USB VCOM driver, Please make sure that USB VCOM driver is installed completely before continued to the next step, if you don't know how to do it you can contact me.
2. Go to flash tool extracted folder and run Flash_Tool.exe, if you are using windows 7 or above please run it using administrator privilege to avoid permission error. On the flash tool please go to Options ↦ Option ↦ Download ↦ and tick the DA DL All with Check Sum like picture below.
   


3. Press [x] to close and back to flash tool again, Now click on Scatter-Loading button and point it to S939_S129_140217/target_bin/MT6592_Android_scatter.txt, this will also loaded all images files on the flash tool.
   


4. When everything is set up, select Download Only and then press Download button or hit CTRL + D, flash tool will initialized and become stand by and ready to make connection with your device.
5. Turn off your device, because Lenovo S939 using non removable battery you must make sure that your device is completely turn off before connecting to your computer. After completely turn off you can connect your device to your computer using USB cable, Flashing process will immediately begin to start and it will be take 5-6 minutes just wait until you can see GREEN CIRCLE with Download OK information.
   


6. Done, That GREEN CIRCLE is mean you already successful flashing your Lenovo S939 with S129 CN Firmware. Now you can disconnect your device and try to turn on your device for the first time. 
7. Go to System Setting ↦ About Phone ↦ look at Build Number and make sure it same with the downloaded ROM.

Preparations :

• First thing i would recommend you is backup your current ROM, Use MTK Droid Tool to do full backup. How to Make Full Backup For Mediatek Device
• Backup your IMEI using MobileUncle MTK Tool, sometime flashing ROM become unstable and erase your IMEI.
• Back up all your file, because this guide will erase all save files on your device.
• Please install MT65XX Preloader Vcom Driver on your computer first, This need to install manually. Turn off your device and remove your battery, connect your device to your computer. When your computer ask for a driver please point it to MT65XX Preloader Vcom Driver extracted folder. After finish installation process please look at My Computer ↦ Manage ↦ Device Manager ↦ COM (Port & LPT).
  


• After your computer recognize your phone like above picture, now move S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1427_2_ST or S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1423, Vibe UI Cleaner, KingUser v3.3.6 and Gapps Minimal for 4.4.2 to your sd card. for easy organize please place it on one folder.
• Disconnect your phone.

Notes :

if  S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1427_2_ST error and installation then change the files with S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1423 this is an alternative ROM file with ROOTED and already include Gapps. so when you using S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1423 file you don't not required to follow step 4

Lenovo S939 Update Kit Kat Vibe UI v1.5 + Gapps + Root

1. Installing Official CN Stock ROM Lenovo S939
   • Extract S939_S129_140217 and SP_Flash_Tool_v5.13448 on your computer, go to SP_Flash_Tool_v5.13448 extracted folder and run Flash Tool, if you are using windows 7 then run it with administrator privileges. 
   • On Flash Tool go to Options ↦ Download ↦ tick the DA DL All with Check Sum
     
   
   
   • Now click on Scatter-Loading button and point it to S939_S129_140217/target_bin/MT6592_Android_scatter, wait for SP Flash Tool for loading and process the needed files to flashing.
     
   
   
   • After all set, now click Download button or hit CTRL+D
   • Turn off your device remove the battery and connect to your computer. If you successful install  MT65XX Preloader Vcom Driver, SP Flash Tool will recognize your device and begin to start flashing process. Progress bar will be show on the bottom of SP Flash Tool. Flashing process will be take 5-6 minutes just wait until it pop up GREEN circle with Download OK information.
     
   
   
   • Now you can disconnect your devices.


2. Installing Carliv Touch Recovery v2.4
   • Installing carliv touch recovery is quite enough same with installing official CN stock ROM, but using the different files.
   • Open and run Flash Tool, go to Options ↦ Download ↦ tick the DA DL All with Check Sum
     
   
   
   • Now click on Scatter-Loading button and point it to CTRv2.4_S939/MT6592_Android_scatter, this will load only recovery.img to it  recovery partition.
     
   
   
   • After all set, now click Download button or hit CTRL+D
   • The process will be same like before, now Turn off your device remove the battery and connect to your computer. SP Flash Tool will begin to start recovery flashing process the progress bar will be show at the bottom, and when it finish it will show GREEN circle with Download OK information.
   • Now you can disconnect your devices. Now your device status is CN firmware with Carliv Touch custom recovery.


3. Installing Vibe UI v1.5 1427_2_ST or Vibe UI v1.5 1423
   • Go to recovery mode,  press and hold Power Button + Volume Up + Volume Down until your device show recovery mode.
   • On recovery mode, Select Install zip from sdcard ↦ Choose zip from sdcard ↦ point to S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1427_2_ST or S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1423 , Carliv Touch v2.4 will begin flashing the S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1427_2_ST or S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1423 to your device. The process will take 2-3 minutes wait until completely finish.
   • After finish, back to main menu again select  Install zip from sdcard ↦ Choose zip from sdcard ↦ point to Vibe UI Cleaner this will remove un wanted chiness applications.
   • Back to main menu again, if you wanna stop you can choose Reboot System Now but if you wanna install Gapps and Rooting your device, stay on the recovery mode and continued to next step.
   • If you installing S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1423 then this is the last step, don't need to follow Step 4 because S939_VIBEUI_V1.5_1423 already ROOTED and include Gapps


4. Installing Google Applications and Rooting
• Now you on recovery mode main menu, Select Install zip from sdcard ↦ Choose zip from sdcard ↦ point to Gapps Minimal for 4.4.2. This will install Google Applications on your device running Vibe UI v1.5.
• When finish installing Gapps Minimal for 4.4.2, now back to main menu again and select Install zip from sdcard ↦ Choose zip from sdcard ↦ point to KingUser v3.3.6 this will root your device using KingUser v3.3.6 application.
• Finish, now your device already running Android Kit Kat + Include Gapps + Rooting
• Verified if your device already ROOTED with Root Checker download from Google Play Store
5. Finish - Lenovo S939 Vibe UI v1.5 + Root + Gapps

1. Download all required files, extract Carliv Touch Recovery move recovery.img, MobileUncle MTK Tool and SuperSu v1.65 to your sc card.
2. Install MobileUncle MTK Tool, like usually confirm all information and begin the installation progress.
3. Open MobileUncle MTK Tool, select Recovery Update, wait until search finish and it will found recovery.img on your sd card.
   


4. Confirmation for installation will be pop up, click Yes and begin install Carliv Touch Recovery to your device. When installation finish you will offer to reboot, select reboot to recovery.
   


5. Wait for reboot on recovery, while in recovery mode you will see that your recovery mode has already change with Carliv Touch Recovery in this recovery you can use your touch screen to select. Select on Install zip ↦ Choose zip from sdcard ↦ navigate to SuperSu v1.65 begin to install, Wait and Reboot your device.
6. Done, Now you have Carliv Touch Recovery and SuperSu v1.65 installed on your device, please verified with ROOT Checker if your device already ROOTED.
