How to Backup NVRAM Image for Lenovo Devices

1. Get the scatter file
   
   
   • First thing to do is we must get the scatter file of your device, scatter file is file that arrange a partition on your device.
   • MtkDroidTool will only work if you already install ADB driver, so please see Tutorial : Manual installing Android ADB USB Driver
   • Enable USB Debugging on your device also, System Setting ↦ Developer Options ↦ check USB Debugging option.
   • Open MtkDroidTool, connect your device to your computer, wait until it appear on MtkDroidTool then press "Block Map" button (1)
     
   
   
   • On the next window, click "Creating scatter file" button (2) and save it as MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt *MT6577 is your processor model, so you can change it with your processor model
     
   
   
   • Done, above guide is how to obtain your device scatter file. Now continued to the next step.


2. Find the address and length of nvram
   
   
   • Now we should read the scatter file and find NVRAM block partition.
   • Open the scatter file with any text editor, it recommended to use Notepad++ because you can see the format and that make easy to find the block.
   • Find the __NODL_NVRAM
   • The string after __NODL_NVRAM maybe different each and another, on mine is 0xA08000
   • Now look at the next block __NODL_SECCFG and the string after it 0xF08000, *On other devices this maybe different, depending on which block is come out first
   • So now we already have 2 numbers, 0xA08000 and 0xF08000.  To find the NVRAM length use programmer calculator and calculate that 2 numbers : 0xF08000 - 0xA08000 = 0x500000
   • So on this step we got 0x500000


3. Merge the nvram.img


• Create folder named target_bin and put the scatter file on the step 1 inside it along with flash tool folder.
• Open flash tool folder and run flash_tool.exe
• On flash tool, click "Scatter Loading" button (3), browse to target_bin and select the scatter file MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt
• Then click "Read Back" tab (4)
  


• On read back window, click "Add" button (5), the table will show N/A row, double click on the line (6) and name the file. ie ROM_NVRAM and the click "Save" button (7)
  


• On the "Read block start address" window, insert address and length that we have received before on the previous step (8).  
  • Start Address: 0xA08000 
  • Length : 0x500000
  now you can click "OK" button (9)
  


• Click "Read Back" button (10) , now turn off your device and remove the battery but if your device use non removable battery then you must make sure device is already completely turn off, connect your device. Flash tool will immediate starting the process to read your NVRAM block and save to computer. It will show GREEN CIRCLE on the middle of flash tool once it finish
4. Done

   • After installation finish back to custom recovery main menu, select Reboot System Now
   • Boot normally and confirm with go to System Setting ↦ About Phone ↦ look on the Baseband Version make sure it same with the downloaded modem file.


2. Manual Installation
• Install Root Explorer on your device, this program needed ROOT to be run
• Extract downloaded modem file to your computer and move it to external sd card, there will be 1 folder with 2 sub folder ↦ /system/etc ↦ firmware ↦ mddb
  


• Open Root Explorer and navigate to /etc/firmware, rename modem.img then navigate to /etc/mddb rename BPLGU*******.
• Move modem.img from downloaded modem file to /etc/firmware then set permission to RW--R--R.
• Move BPLGU******* from downloaded modem file to /etc/mddb then set permission to RW--R--R
   


• Done, now reboot your phone.

2. This modem file contains many version of modem file for specific firmware version, so extract it and move or copy extracted files to your external sd card.
3. Turn off your Lenovo S920, wait until it completely off. now press and hold Power button + Volume Up + Volume Down wait until it show custom recovery main menu the release the button, or you can used 3rd party software like rebooter or mobileUnlce to boot to recovery mode.
4. When you see custom recovery main menu, just use volume up and volume down for navigation and use power button to confirm or to select. Now select Install ↦ Select Zip to Install ↦ navigate to your external sd card and select twrp file.
   


5. After finish selecting modem files and ready to install modem file just Swipe to install, wait for installation to be finish. It will only take like 5-10 seconds to finish.

2. Download the modem file you are going to flash on your device. Move or copy the modem files to your SD card root, don't place it inside the folder.
3. Turn off your device, press and hold Power button + Volume Up + Volume Down button and release until you can see TWRP main menu. This combination button will bring your device to boot on recovery mode.

Lenovo K910 4G LTE, How to Root and Unlock Fastboot for Android 4.4

1. Download all the files required above. First thing to do is we need to install S129 first to your device, follow below guide to install it in Lenovo K910
   
   
   • make folder sdfuse on root your internal memory
   • extract K910L_S129_140202 on your computer, you will find .qsb file. Move this .qsb file to sdfuse on your internal memory. Make sure that only one file qsb in sdfuse folder.
   • turn off your device, turn on Lenovo K910 while holding Power button + Volume Down button, it will bring you to recovery mode.
   • in the menu, select Update sd. On the recovery you can use Volume Up and Volume Down for navigate and Power button to enter the menu.
   • wait until installation finish and reboot your device.


2. Installing custom recovery TWRP v2.7.1.1, Copy update_S214_unlock and Update_SuperSu_v2.00 to your internal memory root, don't place it inside the folder.
3. Extract TWRP_v2.7.1.2_K910 on your computer. for example on the c:\K910\, using command prompt navigate it to extracted folder
   


4. Connect your device on the computer and the run  0_run_twrp_recovery_K910L.bat from inside TWRP extracted folder, wait the process until finish. This will installed custom recovery TWRP v2.7.1.1 on Lenovo K910.
5. Disconnect your device, Turn off and turn on again while holding Volume Down + Power button, this will bring you to recovery mode. 
6. Install Update_SuperSu_v2.00 and update_S214_unlock from recovery mode.

Today in this guide i will give you a guide on how to restore Lenovo Standard Recovery files from the ROM files that you have, this guide is using flash tool method to flash the recovery file and also be done with MobileUncle but for MobileUncle you need your phone to be Rooted. Do this guide with your own risk, this guide can possibility make your device bootloop so please consider it before following this guide.

• This guide is using flash tool, so please make sure that USB VCOM driver is installed completely on your computer, to do it just follow this  USB VCOM Driver ↦ Turn off your device and remove the battery, using USB cable connect your device while look at My Computer ↦ Manage ↦ Device Manager there will be MTK65xx Preloader Devices show up for 5 second than disappeared, before disappeared right click on it and select Update Driver Software point it to USB VCOM Driver extracted folder. When it finish disconnect and connect again there will be Mediatek PreLoader USB VCOM Port on your device manager.
  


• Full ROM your device, ROM that can be flash using flash tool recommended that you have the same version with your current running ROM. In this guide i am using S850_ROW_S214_150109 for example.
• SP Flash Tool that fit with your device, for S850 i am using v3.1324 but you can use your own, usually full ROM download include with flash tool.

Lenovo Phones, How to Restore Lenovo Standard Recovery

1. First think to do is make sure that USB VCOM driver is installed on your computer completely without this flash tool will not recognize your device and the status bar only on 0%
2. Open and run flash_tool.exe, if you are using windows 7 or later please run it using administrator privilege to avoid any permission error.
3. On the flash tool, check DA DL All with Checksum option, every time flashing using flash tool this option must be checked. Click on Scatter-Loading button, browse it to ROM folder and then select scatter file inside target_bin. In this guide my scatter file is MT6582_Android_scatter.txt this action will automatically load all required images to flash tool.
4. All images will be checked automatically also, to flashing only recovery image remove all check list except on recovery image (3). Finally press Download button, this will give information warning, just confirm it with pressing Yes button.
   


5. Now you ready to flash only recovery image to your device. Turn off your device, if your device use removable battery you must remove the battery and if not using removable battery you must make sure that your device is completely turn off before connect to computer.
6. Connect your device, and flash tool will recognize your device and begin to start flashing process. This will only take 5-10 second and when it finish it will show GREEN CIRCLE in the middle of flash tool.
   


7. Done, Confirm it with boot to recovery mode, most Lenovo device use combination Power button + Volume Up + Volume Down button to boot to recovery mode.

Lenovo S660, How to Install Custom Recovery on VIbe UI 2.0 1437

1. Download all files that needed, This guide is using flash tool method so it need you to install USB VCOM driver first before start following this guide, without USB VCOM flash tool will not recognize your device and progress bar will  remain at 0%
2. Extract recovery file and flash tool on your computer, place it at one folder for easy organize it. Go to flash tool extracted folder and run flash_tool.exe, if you are using windows 7 or later please run it as administrator to avoid any permission error.
3. On the flash tool, please go to  Options ↦ Option ↦ Download and make sure that DA DL All with Checksum already being checked, press [x] to close and back to flash tool
   


4. Back to flash tool, click on Scatter-Loading button browse it to recovery extracted folder and then select MT6582_Android_scatter.txt, this action will automatically load recovery.img to flash tool. On download option please choose Download Only and then click on Download button
   


5. Now turn off your device and remove your battery, wait for 5 second then you can connect your device to your computer. Flash tool will immediately recognize your device and begin installation process, it will take 5-10 seconds to finish and will be mark with GREEN CIRCLE on the middle of flash tool
   


6. Done, you already success installing custom recovery on Lenovo S660 running Vibe UI 2.0. Confirm it with press and hold Power Button + Volume Up + Volume Down while turning on your device.
