Lenovo A850, How to Installing Custom Recovery CWM v6.0.3.4 and TWRP v2.5.0.0 - Custom recovery have may useful function that can be used by android user to optimize his devices, the main use of custom recovery is we can make full backup of our current running ROM and we can install unsign custom ROM to our devices.
Today i will write guide how to installing custom recovery on Lenovo A850, this guide is using flash tool method and using windows computer to run it. The advantage using flash tool is you don't need to root your device first when you wanna to install custom recovery. But using flash tool is more difficult and has possibility to brick your device, so please consider it before following this guide.

Requirements :

• Can be use for both china and international firmware version, but sometime can result error on the newest international firmware version 
• Backup your data first, and prepare ROM files in case you got brick when following this guide, brick can only be fix with re flashing.
• The file in this guide can also be use for MobileUncle method, but you need to root your device first fo using MobileUncle

Downloads :

• ROW_TWRP_CWM_recovery ↦ contain cwm and twrp file for international firmware version, also contains android scatter file that can be use for flash tool.
• CN_TWRP_CWM_recovery ↦ contain cwm and twrp file for china firmware version, also contains android scatter file that can be use for flash tool.
• USB VCOM Driver ↦ Install this driver first on your computer, Turn off your device and remove the battery, using USB cable connect your device while look at My Computer ↦ Manage ↦ Device Manager there will be MTK65xx Preloader Devices show up for 5 second than disappeared, before disappeared right click on it and select Update Driver Software point it to USB VCOM Driver extracted folder. When it finish disconnect and connect again there will be Mediatek PreLoader USB VCOM Port on your device manager.
  


• SP Flash Tool v3.1320 ↦ flash tool need to flashing or install firmware to your device, recommended to use only this version tool.

Lenovo A850, How to Installing Custom Recovery CWM v6.0.3.4 and TWRP v2.5.0.0

1. Download all files on the download section, this guide is using flash tool method and using windows computer so you must make sure that USB VCOM driver is installed properly before start following this guide.
2. Extract recovery to your computer, you will got recovert_TWRP_2.5.0.0.img and recovery_z_CWM_6.0.3.4.img. Rename the file that you wanna use to recovery.img.
3. Extract the flash tool, and run flash_tool.exe if you are using windows 7 or later please run it using administrator privilege to avoid any permission error.
4. On the flash tool, please check DA DL All with Checksum option and then click on Scatter-Loading button. Browse it to recovery extracted folder and the select MT6582_Android_scatter.txt, this action will load recovery.img to the flash tool 
   


5. When everything is set up, now just press Download button, it will trigger warning information that tell not all images loaded correctly, just confirm by press Yes button.
   


6. Now turn off your device and remove battery, wait for 5-10 second then connect your device to computer. Flash tool will immediately recognize your device and begin to start flashing process, the process will take 5-10 second to finish. And when you see GREEN CIRCLE on the middle of flash tool that mean flashing process already finish successful.
   


7. Done, now you can disconnect your device and try to turn it on. First try to normal boot to see that your device not bootloop or brick, or you can straight to press and hold Power Button + Volume Up + Volume Down button to go to recovery mode.

Update Lenovo A850 to the Latest ROW Firmware, A850_ROW_S128_140627

1. Download all required files and place it in one folder for easy organize it, because this guide is using PC method so you must confirm first that USB VCOM driver is properly installed on your computer without USB VCOM flash tool will not recognize your device and progress bar is still on 0%
2. Extract ROM file, it will contains target_bin folder. Extract flash tool and go to extracted folder, run flash_tool.exe if you are using windows 7 or later please run it using administrator privilege to avoid any permission error.
3. On the flash tool, check DA DL All with Checksum option, next click the Scatter-Loading button browse it to target_bin folder and then select MT6582_Android_scatter.txt, it will automatically all required files to flash tool.
   


4. If everything is set up, now you can press Firmware Upgrade button or hit F8. flash tool will process the ROM file and after finish it will on stand by mode waiting connection from your device. (Once you connect your device and received error code 8038, then try using firmware upgrade button instead download button)
5. Turn off your device and remove the battery, wait for 5 second then connect your device. Flash tool will recognize your device and begin to start flashing process, it will take 5-6 minutes to finish and when you see GREEN CIRCLE in the middle of flash tool it mean flashing process finish successfully.
   


6. Done, disconnect your device and try to normal boot, first booting will take about 5 minutes to finish so please be patient. Confirm that you already successful flashing your device to the latest version. Go to System Setting ↦ About Phone ↦ Software Information confirm that Build Number is same with the downloaded ROM.

How to Update Lenovo A850 with A850_ROW_S127_140303 Latest Firmware - Today i will post a guide on how to Update or Restore or Flashing Lenovo A850 using Multi Language ROM. When you bought Lenovo A850 from china you will got a CN firmware installed on your device this CN firmware just only contains 2 languages CN and EN, Not include google applications and a lot chinese firmware that you cannot use it unless you are in china. How to Update Lenovo A850 with A850_ROW_S127_140303 Latest Firmware

1. Download all required files to your computer, Before we start please disconnect your device from your computer. Extract it to one folder for easy organize it, and make clear name for the folder.
2. Now go to SP Flash Tool v3.1320 extracted folder and run Flash Tool, when you are using windows 7 please run it with administrator privilege. Tick on option DA DL All with Check Sum, don't forget about this option because it will make your flashing error. Click Scatter-Loading button and navigate to A850_ROW_S127_140303/target_bin/MT6582_Android_scatter, this will automatically load all necessary file to SP Flash Tool
   


3. When all set like picture above, now click Download button or hit F9, Don't click format when use SP Flash Tool it will delete your NVRAM partition, wait until SP Flash Tool initialize and become stand by.
4. Turn off your device and remove the battery. Connect your device to computer, SP Flash Tool will recognize your device and begin to start the flashing  process. 
5. Flashing process mark by progress bar on the bottom, it will show RED, YELLOW and finish by GREEN CIRCLE on the middle of SP Flash Tool. When it show then you can disconnect your device.
   


6. Done, now your Lenovo A850 already using A850_ROW_S127 firmware, you can verify it on System Setting ↦ About Phone
   

Now enjoy your new firmware, This firmware support transfer to SD Card, so you can move your installed applications to SD Card. Lenovo A850 Flashing MIUI V5 4.3.1 Android 4.2 Custom ROM - After last week i am posting on How to Rooting Lenovo A850 and Install Custom Recovery now it time to more modified your Lenovo A850 using MIUI V5 3.12 custom ROM. MIUI actually an official ROM for device named XIOMI this ROM don't have application drawer button, all applications short cut show like widgets in many screens same like Iphone view but users allow to modified it icons, colors, lock screen, and even boot animation. MIUI V5 4.3.1 for Lenovo A850 no longer support by official MIUI so any update will be provide by unofficial update but it will fix bugs too.

Lenovo A850 Flashing MIUI V5 4.3.1 Android 4.2 Custom ROM

1. Download MIUI V5 4.3.1 and move it to your sd card
2. Turn off your device
3. Turn on your device while Power + Volume Up + Volume Down buttons, this combination buttons will make your device boot to recovery mode.
4. On recovery mode select Wipe data / Factory Reset ↦ Yes - Delete all user data confirm all and begin to do factory reset.
5. Back to recovery main menu select Wipe cache partition ↦ Yes - Wipe cache confirm all warning and begin to clean cache partition.
   
6. Now go to Mount and Storage ↦ Format /System this will format your /system partition and remove all operating system from your device. When you perform this step it means no turning back if you reboot your device after perform this step you device will bootloop cause there is no operating system inside.
7. Back to recovery mode main menu, select Install zip from sd card ↦ Choose zip from sd card, navigate to MIUI V5 4.3.1 confirm all warning and begin the installation process.
8. When installation process finish, back to recovery mode main menu select Wipe data / Factory Reset ↦ Yes - Delete all user data this will avoid boot loop.
9. Now select Reboot System Now, first time booting will take more longer it will take about 2-3 minutes so please keep patience.
10. Done, for installation MiuiAndroid Gapps 4.2.2 Small Signed , repeat step 2 and step 7 but on step 7 navigate to MiuiAndroid Gapps 4.2.2 Small Signed file.

How to Rooting Lenovo A850 and Install Custom Recovery

1. Download all required files
2. Move or copy Framaroot v1.9.1 and MobileUncle MTK Tools to your sd card.
3. For recovery file, if your ROM is already an International version (ROW) then you must download ROW_map_TWRP_CWM_recovery, otherwise if you still using default CN ROM then please download CN_map_TWRP_CWM_recovery.
4. Extract Recovery file on your one folder, you will find 3 file MT6582_Android_scatter, recovery_TWRP_2.5.0.0, and recovery_CWM_v6.0.3.4. Move between recovery_TWRP_2.5.0.0 or recovery_CWM_v6.0.3.4 to your sd card these two files are a custom recovery just choose one to install.
5. Install Framaroot v1.9.1, confirm all security pop up and begin to install, if you cannot install it please check System Settings ↦ Security ↦ Unknown Source please check it, this option will make your device can be install using *.apk file.
   


6. When installation finsih, open Framaroot v1.9.1, select SuperSu on actions drop down
7. Click on Boromir button, confirm all and begin rooting process. Wait the process until message appears Success, SuperSu and SU binary installed.
   
8. Click OK and your device will reboot automatically if not please reboot manually. After finish reboot open SuperSu application and begin to upgrade it. Now your device already ROOTED
9. Now install MobileUncle MTK Tools, confirm all security warning and begin installation.
10. Open MobileUncle MTK Tools, this application will ask for root permission so it will be pop up from SuperSu please Grant it.
    


11. Select Recovery Update, MobileUncle MTK Tools will searching for available recovery file on sd card, recovery_TWRP_2.5.0.0 or recovery_CWM_v6.0.3.4 will available on select list, select it for begin installing custom recovery. 
    
12. Wait until Done information show up, and Reboot into Recovery option show up, select OK, your device will automatically reboot into recovery mode.

Lenovo A850 Enable External Storage - Lenovo A850 is a powerful phone but with small storage, only have 2 GB and not have ability to set default installation to external storage. This phone have GPU Mali-400 which is support to high end games easily because a small storage this ability cannot be used. Today i gone share how to install ROM on Lenovo A850 that enable to set default installation to external storage.

Requirement :

• Driver Installation 
  • Download Lenovo USB Driver
  • Install to computer, After finish installation please reboot computer first
  • Connect Lenovo A850 to computer, wait until driver installation process finish
  • Enable USB Debugging. Go to System Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging
• Download ROM A850_S121_ROW_v18
• Download SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1304.0.119

How to Lenovo A850 Enable External Storage

1. Extract all download files on a folder, you will have SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1304.0.119 and A850_S121_ROW_v18.
2. Turn off your Lenovo A850 and remove battery, sim card, and sd card. Connect your Lenovo A850 to your computer, it will installing Mediatek PreLoader USB VCOM Port. After finish installing Mediatek PreLoader USB VCOM Port success, disconnect your phone from your computer.
3. Now open SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1304.0.119 folder and run Flash_tool.exe check on DA DL With Check Sum. Click on Scatter-loading look for MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt on the A850_S121_ROW_v18 folder, look on /target_bin sub folder
   


4. Check and the click on PRELOADER, MBR, EBR1, UBOOT, etc and browse to A850_S121_ROW_v18 folder. 
   


5. Connect your phone to computer and now we ready to Flash A850_S121_ROW_v18. Click Download buttons. When your device detect then it will show Red Bar and not very long it will become Yellow Bar increase. Wait until it reach 100% please don't remove, shutdown or reboot your computer in this moment cause it will make your device bricked. When it finish it will show you Green Sign and you can disconnect your device.
6. Done. disconnect your phone and turn it on normally

To verified the change that you have done with your phone please go to System Settings > Storage choose for your default write disk.
